Actor, writer, author, and filmmaker, I was born and raised in Mumbai. With a background in
Commerce from the University of Mumbai, my journey began on a conventional path—until a
deeper pull toward storytelling led me to the creative arts.
While portraying human characters in films and commercials, I try to bring depth, emotion, and authenticity to every performance. Every role I take on is a piece of my soul brought back to life.
I write because some stories deserve to be heard. I pen stories on social issues close to my heart - especially those that speak for women and children.
Directing gives me the power to shape a story from vision to screen. My debut short film earned a nomination at the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival and that's just the beginning.
Before the camera, there was the boardroom. I believe that business and creativity are similar. In both you need focus, perseverance and the ability to to see what doesn’t yet exist and believe in its potential.
My path into the arts didn’t follow a straight line. I studied Commerce at the University of Mumbai, expecting a career built on numbers and structure. But storytelling always kept pulling at me, very quietly at first, but for sure until I couldn’t ignore it completely any longer. As a Marathi actress, Preeti Mallapurkar stepped into Marathi cinema through roles in films like Mukkam Post Devach Ghar, Ishwari, Kaarwaa and Aatur, each one teaching me something new about vulnerability and craft. Somewhere along the way, writing became just as essential to me as acting, and directing became the natural next step. My debut short film went on to earn a nomination at the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival, a moment that confirmed storytelling was never a detour from my life. It was always the destination. Every role since has been a step toward a larger goal: to be counted, one day, among the best Marathi actresses of my generation, not through claims, but through the work itself.
Whether I’m in front of the camera, behind it, or at my writing desk, the thread connecting everything I do is the same: a fascination with the quiet, complicated truths of being human. I’m drawn to stories about resilience, identity, and the moments that change us, especially the stories of women navigating change on their own terms. As a member of the Screenwriters Association, I stay committed to storytelling that respects both craft and honesty, on screen and on the page. People often ask what kind of Marathi actress Preeti Mallapurkar hopes to become. My answer is simple: one who is remembered less for recognition and more for honesty, the kind of actress whose work makes people feel less alone. If that also means being spoken of one day as one of the best Marathi actresses working today, I’d rather earn that quietly, through the stories I choose, than say it about myself.
